About Oscar Kaunda

Healthcare organizations rarely fail because people don't care.

"Most healthcare leaders don't need more advice.
They need better systems."

— What 12+ years inside this complexity taught me

I didn't start out as a consultant. I started as a practitioner. I currently serve in a healthcare leadership role in Indiana, overseeing multi-program operations, workforce systems, and compliance within a complex Medicaid-funded service environment. That active insider perspective is what makes this advisory practice different.

Values

RISE — How We Operate

R

Respect

We honor the dignity of every person and organization we serve. I listen first. I ask questions. I assume you know your organization better than I ever will.

I

Integrity

We operate with full transparency and ethical clarity. If I don't think I can help you, I'll say so. If you need something I don't offer, I'll refer you to someone who does. You're not hiring me to tell you what you want to hear. You're hiring me to tell you the truth.

S

Service

I don't hand you a report and walk away. I stay through implementation. I course-correct in real time. I'm here to make sure the work actually sticks.

E

Excellence

If a system isn't working, we redesign it. If a process is inefficient, we fix it. I hold myself to the same standard I hold my clients to.

Mission

Why This Work Matters

My mission is to help healthcare providers and mission-driven organizations
build systems that work, lead teams that thrive, and create impact that lasts.

"I believe leadership is not about charisma or personality. It's about clear systems, grounded decision-making, and the courage to have hard conversations that build people up. It's about designing organizations that don't depend on any one person being everywhere at once — because the mission is too important for that."

Background

Built from the Inside

My experience spans healthcare operations leadership, Medicaid compliance
and accreditation preparation, revenue cycle stabilization, workforce and HR
system development, and strategic planning for complex service organizations.

I came to this country from Kenya carrying a belief that you earn credibility through the quality of your work and the depth of your commitment to the people you serve. That belief hasn't changed. Along the way I earned an Executive MBA from Notre Dame's Mendoza College of Business (Class of 2025, merit scholarship) and dual Bachelor's degrees in Healthcare Management and Human Resource Management from Indiana University South Bend.

Entrepreneurship Background

Sanaa Chocolates (2019–2023)

In addition to healthcare leadership, my advisory work is informed by hands-on experience co-founding and operating a consumer-facing business from concept to market. Sanaa Chocolates was an MBE-certified, SAM-registered small business I co-founded with my wife Yvonne — providing direct exposure to the full arc of business building and execution: market research, brand development, website development, social media marketing, financial operations, capability statement development, and community engagement.

It provided a perspective most advisors don't have: what it actually feels like to build, operate, and sustain something from the ground up. That experience is what makes the startup advisory work real — not theoretical.

LensOfCare360

Oscar is also the founder of LensOfCare360, a health technology initiative focused on improving care coordination and operational visibility across healthcare organizations serving individuals with disabilities and complex care needs.

Common Questions

Quick answers to the questions we hear most of the time.

Does Oscar Kaunda work inside an HCBS organization currently?

Yes. Oscar Kaunda currently serves in an active healthcare leadership role inside a complex Medicaid-funded service organization in Indiana, overseeing multi-program operations, workforce systems, and compliance within a Home and Community-Based Services environment. This is what distinguishes Lens of Grace Advisory from traditional outside consultants who advise from a distance.

The advisory practice is built from inside the system it serves. The systems Oscar helps client organizations build — documentation structures, compliance workflows, billing correction processes, workforce accountability frameworks — are drawn from real-time operational leadership, not case studies or theoretical frameworks. When he walks into a client organization facing a billing crisis, a CQL survey, or a workforce breakdown, he is bringing the perspective of someone who is managing equivalent complexity on a daily basis. That inside-operator perspective is the core differentiator of this practice.
