About the Founder

Oscar Kaunda, EMBA

Oscar Kaunda didn’t set out to become a healthcare strategist. He came to the United States from Kenya at 17 with a plan to become a neurosurgeon. What he found instead was a healthcare system full of people doing meaningful work inside organizations that were structurally struggling to support them.

That gap — between the quality of care people wanted to deliver and the operational reality they were working inside — became his life’s work.

The Professional Story

Over the past 12 years, Oscar has led healthcare operations across Medicaid-funded home- and community-based service organizations — overseeing $10M+ in revenue, leading 200+ staff, directing services for 171+ individuals across 10 Indiana counties, and achieving 3-year CQL accreditation. He has navigated compliance crises, rebuilt broken billing systems, restructured teams, and stabilized programs that were on the verge of collapse.

In 2023, he founded Lens of Grace Advisory to bring that operational experience directly to healthcare leaders who are navigating the same challenges — without having to figure it out alone.

He earned his Executive MBA from the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame (Class of 2025), where he deepened his strategic and analytical capabilities and connected with a network of leaders committed to building organizations that actually work.

Why This Work

Oscar believes that when organizations are structurally strong, the people they serve get better outcomes. That belief drives every engagement — from stabilizing a struggling SFC program to helping a first-time healthcare founder build their business the right way from the start.

He is known for telling leaders what they need to hear, not just what they want to hear — and for staying in the work until the systems are actually built, not just recommended.

Beyond the Work

Oscar serves as a mentor and advisor through Notre Dame’s SBEAP entrepreneurship program, supporting founders navigating the early stages of building mission-driven businesses. He serves on the board at Notre Dame’s ECDC and the Twyckenham Hills Community Club in Mishawaka. He and his wife Yvonne — a certified life coach and mental health counseling graduate — are raising their daughters in South Bend, Indiana, where they have been rooted in the community since 2008.
